Contact Precautions

Patient and Family Instructions:

 You have been placed in CONTACT ISOLATION because you are known or suspected to be infected with a microorganism spread by direct contact with you or indirect contact with enviornmental surfaces or items used in your care.

 In addition to routine infection control measures, the staff will:

 1. Wear gloves whenever entering your room.

2. Where a gown during some of your care.

3. Limit your activity to your room unless it is necessary for you to be transported to

    another department.  

Your visitors will be asked to wear a gown and gloves while in your room, remove the gown and gloves when leaving the room, and wash their hands upon removing the garments. Please caution your visitors not to visit other patients in the hospital after visiting you without checking with our staff.
