Out-Patient Medical Procedures at Major Hospital Most Frequently Done:

Blood Transfusion

Intravenous Antibiotics

Sterile Dressing Changes

Subcutaneous Injections of Medication

 

You should report to the Major Hospital Emergency Room Registration each time you come for a procedure and they will call Adult Medical Unit to get a room for you.

 

You can expect to spend the following amount of time at the hospital depending on the procedure:

Blood Transfusion will take approximately 3-4 hours for each unit of blood you receive.

Intravenous Antibiotics will take approximately 2-3 hours each day you come.

Sterile dressing changes will take approximately 30 minutes.

Subcutaneous Injection will take approximately 45 minutes if first time medication, less if you have had the medication before.

 

Time spent at the hospital can vary. These times are only approximate but can help you plan your day.
