After Your Transfusion:

After you have had a transfusion, we will ask you to stay one hour after the blood is given. The nurse will take your blood pressure, pulse, temperature and respirations. Careful observation throughout and after the transfusion will allow us to give you the best possible care.

Reactions to a transfusion are uncommon but can occur. The most common problems are:

                                       Fever with or without chills

Skin symptoms such as hives and or itching

If you have any problems after leaving the hospital, call or come to the Emergency Room: 392-3211
