Mupirocin (Bactroban) Application:

     This medication is used to help prevent infection after surgery.

This medication is placed into each nostril two times a day beginning 5 days before your surgery.

Application Procedure:

1. Remove the cap, apply one half of the tube into one nostril and then apply other

   half of contents of the tube into the other nostril( if you are given the 10 small tubes.) 

   Your Pharmacist may give one large tube and in this case, place a small amount in each nostril

   twice a day and expect to have a large amount left in the tube.

2. Press the nostrils together and massage for approximately one minute.

3. Discard the tube if you have the small tubes, keep if you have the large tube.

4. Avoid contact with eyes.
