You may drive a care after 24 hours if you feel capable of doing so. There is no restriction to physical activity. It is recommended that you have rest periods if you notice being tired for the first few days following your surgery.

Sexual Relations:

Intercourse is permitted after 2 weeks for a D&C and after 4 weeks for an Endometrial Ablation.

Menstruation:

Following surgery you may notice occasional spotting or bleeding which can occur off and on for a few weeks. Douching and the use of tampons are to be avoided for two weeks.

Bathing:

Showers and tub baths are permitted at any time.

Work:

Unless otherwise instructed, you may return to work the day following your surgery.

Additional Notes:

Cramping similar to a menstrual period often occurs following a D&C. This can usually be relieved by using over-the-counter pain medication such as ibuprofen. Please call the office, 398-0193, should any cramping or abdominal pain becomes severe.

Return Visit:

Please call the office, 398-0193, as soon as possible to schedule an appointment to be seen 4 weeks after surgery. It is also important to notify your physician sooner should you experience any severe abdominal pain, fever of greater than 100.5 degrees, heavy bleeding greater than a pad an hour, or change in bowel or bladder habits.
